The Dell Inspiron 1545 and PP41L come in two types of screens - W-LED Truelife  and CCFL LCD screen. It is best to find out the type in your laptop before ordering the replacement screen.

There are 3 ways to do this...

  • This first way is our tip and the fastest way to do it. In the middle of the laptop, after you have opened it you will find the DELL logo. At this Dell logo area put your fingers between the screenb and the plastic bezel and pull the plastic bit towards you until it slightly comes away from the screen.

Most of the Dell Inspiron 1545 screen will come with strong gum or adhesive in this area. Do not panic keep pulling until you hear the clicking noise which comes from the screen bezel unhooking from its holders. Use the image below as a guide.

Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop screen This is W-LED Truelife TFT screen as after pulling the plastic bezel and looking into the opening you will only find a cable and nothing else. For this you will need to order at the link Dell Inspiron 1545 LED Screen
Dell Inspiron 1545 Bezel This is CCFL LCD because this has a green electronic board in the opening. This green board is called the inverter and this is what provides brightness to the CCFL screen. If your Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop has this then you need to order from the link Dell Inspiron 1545 CCFL Screen.

The LED and CCFL LCD TFT screens differ in two ways. The LED screen does not need inverter for the brightness as it is LED which means Light Emmitting Diode. The brighness is already embedded in the screen. The CCFL LCD type needs inverter to power up the fluorescence tube at the bottom of the LCD screen.

  • The second way to find out if you have the WLED or CCFL LCD is to contact Dell Technical Support Team on 0844 444 3274 with the Service Tag number at the bottom(underneath) of your laptop. This number is unique to every Dell notebook and with it Dell customer service agent will be able to tell you the screen type in your laptop. Below is the area at the bottom of the Dell Inspiron 1545 where you will find the Service Tag number.

  • The third was is to remove the screen from the back of the laptop and order by part number at the back of the screen. For help on how to dismantle and remove the screen go to Dell Inspiron 1545 screen replacement.

After the screen is removed look for the part number at the back. This number will have 156 after an alphabet e.g. B156XW01, B156XW01, LP156WH1, LP156WH2, BT156GW01, N156B6 or N156B3. Type this number into the search area of our screen website and order by part number.
